I think his point about a wall keeping him in are a bit misplaced

No one will ever trust the government again, at all, for anything. Not worth a debate on that point of contention for him. I doubt Trump will be able to build the wall anyway. He might as a public works project if the economy collapses. That is the least of the problems he will have to deal with.
